Executive + Project Coordinator Position

ABOUT CANOPY SOUTH

SUMMARY

Canopy South is seeking to hire an Executive + Project Coordinator (EPC) who will play a key role in our organization by supporting internal operations, special projects, and community engagement initiatives. Tasks would involve providing organizational support to the Executive Director and Director of Operations, monitoring project plans and progress, maintaining grant compliance, drafting grant reports, and supporting community engagement events and outreach. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supporting the Executive Director and reporting to the Director of Operations the EPC will support three main functions of the organization: 

ORGANIZATION SUPPORT

  • Organize and maintain a multi-calendar schedule of meetings, speaking engagements, and events across the organization. At times, this may include coordinating business travel including airfare bookings, lodging accommodations, transportation services, and creating itineraries for Canopy South staff and the Board of Directors 
  • Supports the Executive Director with scheduling, expense reports, completes internal forms for contracts, invoices, and other administrative support 
  • Provides coordination and support for special events and meetings such as Board Meetings, Annual Holiday Party, Site Visits, groundbreakings, etc. 
  • Provides project support for short-term and long-term projects and programs – this may include producing project reports, meeting minutes, timelines, spreadsheets, expense reports, etc. 

GRANT AND FUND DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT 

  • Support the Director of Operations in grant writing and reporting for program and operational grant opportunities, including local, state, federal, and national funding sources 
  • Provide administrative support for fundraising events, Giving Tuesday, capital campaigns, and sponsorship opportunities 
  • Ensure grant compliance for local, state, and federal grants 
  • Create a comprehensive fund development timeline and tracking system 
  • Maintain and update organizational records for each grant awarded 

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVES 

  • Support community engagement activities including event planning, meeting facilitation, door knocking, phone banking, and other outreach strategies
  • Provide programmatic support to the Neighborhood and Housing Implementation Committee, Education Committee, and Ambassador Program 
  • Support bi-weekly Office Hours on-site at Southside Terrace 
  • Other duties as assigned.
    Given the nature of our organization, there will be other duties that are not listed above. The ideal candidate will enjoy a range of responsibilities and embrace unanticipated challenges as they emerge.

QUALIFICATIONS

As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must believe in the core values of Canopy South and be driven by the mission. The candidate should demonstrate a passion for breaking new ground to lead social change. Qualities the ideal candidate would display:

  • Commitment and passion for working collaboratively to improve the quality of life for current and future residents of South Omaha 
  • Confidence to take initiative and responsibility to deliver expected outcomes with minimal guidance on a variety of projects 
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with people from a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds and diverse cultures 
  • Skills in various products and platforms including Adobe Suite, Microsoft and Google products, WordPress, Canva, etc.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills 
  • Dependable, reliable, and conscientious 
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines 
  • Ability to work flexible hours (some weekends, evenings, early mornings, etc.) 
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field is preferred 

COMPENSATION + BENEFITS

Canopy South is prepared to offer an attractive compensation package, including:Competitive base salary ($50k – $56k), commensurate with experience
